[Solved] Animation destroying along with the GameObject its a child of

So I have a shield system that is on my enemy ships. When I shoot the shield, it animates getting shot and when shot enough it has an animation for the shield going down. Except when I shoot it with more powerful lasers and I pop their shield then kill the enemy ship that the shield is parented to, the shield popping animation destroys along with the ship. Is there a way to make that animation finish playing out even with the parent being destroyed?

I was able to solve this by instead of destroying the ship or setting the active state of the ship to false, i just destroyed the sprite renderer and collider of the ship, then destroyed the ship a half second later
