I’m quite desperate right now - being on XP32 / Unity 2.5.1 / 2.6 - the following happened today:
Installed a new systemdrive (previously used as simple storage drive in the machine )and ghosted the old OS partiotion(s) onto it - everything works - even 3ds Max’s bloody “known-as-top-annoying” licensing system required only a relicensing.
BUT: when launching Unity now (2.5.1 /2.6 - doesn’t matter) - i get the following message box immediatly after launching: “This Product is not compatible with a non-native windows environment. Please contact software manufacturer…”
and Errorcode “-17” shown afterwards in a tiny messagebox…
Deinstall/Reinstall doesn’t help …
Another OS partition on the same drive (cloned too with ghost - but never ran unity before) launches unity but requires a new license of course and that wa’nt do it - I want unity on my Main OS/Partition …
So i’m completly locked out of this $1.5K purchase due to sucking Pace/Interlok fucking up … Help please - anyone ?
thx
PS: Support got a email report too - but i don’t know how long this will take to be handlet by the unity folks…
I prepared for a complete OS wipe and reinstall, when i had the suspicion that Pace/Interlok would rely on the system’s MBR (Master boot record) for some of it’s licensing info… So i booted the XP CD - entered repair mode and ran “fixmbr” and “fixboot” on my troubled OS partition/drive. I did’nt really believe this would fix it, but before the reinstall hassle i wanted to be sure, booted XP one last time and … TATATA! Unity runs again !
So for anyone having the problem mentioned above, thsi is the way to fix it !!! And - ahem - Unity Support still hasn’t replied though…
Well the word “Solved” gives me hope but can’t understand any of solve options =)
Probably, have to remove partition and recreate it (because I changed its Serial # and after it unity3d begun not to start)
