[Solved] URL not resolving

Hi

I am having a problem while trying to retrieve textures and video clips from a network location using WWW class …

first of, the error codes…
depending on the URL i get something like:
host not found OR file not found.

does file not found mean that the host HAS been found ?

secondly, if i access the jpg via firefox the URL looks like this: “file://///something/something/pic.jpg”

why does it want 5 slashes ?!?!
what does 5 slashes mean ?? (could help me understand the problem)

if i use Application.OpenURL it opens fine externally.

this might also be a access rights/permissions issue.

ill post the exact error messages first thing tomorrow…

any insight would be appreciated.

Generally, yes.

The five slashes is a sign of a file on a network share (read more here).

So we solved the problem.

apparently the URL looks different on Mac than on Windows.

on Windows we used: “file:////someting/someting/pic.jpg”
(notice the 4 slashes)

on Mac we used “file:///Volumes/something/someting/pic.jpg”
(notice the 3 slashed and Volumes)
