Some Backend Banter

This is not a bug or complaint, I’m actually surprised how well Unity runs in Mint 18.1 Cinnamon (barring the grey screen perms bug). I want to hear the developer’s perspective on the challenges of setting up Unity for Linux. What are the challenges of re-writing Unity3D to run in a nix environment vs Windows?

I too am very pleased with the operation of the latest Unity builds in ArchLinux. Most every major feature is working and the Linux editor support is a major driving factor for us choosing Unity over other solutions.

Same here. Everyone needs to get over the Windows game craze. They’ve proven to be anti-consumer and anti-game too many times again and again. I choose Unity specifically because it supports Linux out of the box.

Having blender import fixed in the 5.5 series will finally allow me to shift my work from my OS X laptop to my fedora workstation. Thanks Team Unity3D Linux!
