Some good off-site tutorials?

Hey I’ve read the entire Manual, Reference, and Scripting Reference on Unity3d.com, every page. I’ve watched every video tutorial, read lots of forum posts, increased my programming knowledge by about 3x. Yet I still don’t understand the big picture as to how to put all these tools together in Unity to make a coherent game.

So I need more learning materials off-site (or either hidden on-site which I haven’t seen yet, I doubt that). Are there any good ones you know of that helped you?

It of course doesn’t have to be Unity specific, could be about programming in general, or, I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking pro’s at this.

Thanks. I think I’ve read about 300-400 pages of stuff so far in the last 2 weeks but I’m still confused about the bigger picture, I have all the pieces yet the puzzle still isn’t put together.

Did you go through the Lerpz and FPS tutorials? I get the impression those are pretty comprehensive.

I think there’s also a book on game development using Unity, although I haven’t read it.

Beyond that, I’d just ask any particular questions you have here. Can you give an example of the kind of thing you’re not clear on?

Over in Support I have the following thread that you might find interesting:

Learning Resources for Unity

It’s not entirely up-to-date but it’s got links to a wide variety of 3rd party provided materials. But as was asked above, have you gone through the tutorials we provide in the Resources area on our site? The 3D platformer walks you through the general concepts of Unity nicely and is something you really should consider doing. Failing that, the car tutorial may be good as well.
