Some initial feedback

Probably already been posted.
Just got into the beta. Looking good so far.

  1. The opening dashboard when first loading up Unity is great, and it’s awesome having those templates with “more to come” on the way. However, once you’ve loaded up Unity, if you decided to make a new project while in the program, it doesn’t take you back to the dashboard, but rather uses the old ‘new project’, ‘open project’ menu, which doesn’t have those templates.

  2. Some of the default packages that can be imported are getting a little dated now, and the new Sample Assets beta is looking fantastic. But rather than have it as one giant package in the final version (which wouldn’t make sense), please expand the default assets to a much nicer menu. A drop down list for controllers and AI would be a great start. In controllers we would see the old first person and third person, as well as the new versions, the marble controller, the car, the aircrafts, etc. Each as a separate package.
Particles is one of those exceptions where chucking everything into the one package probably makes more sense.

  3. Still talking about the Assets, I was hoping a generic buoyancy / physics alteration script could be included into the water package, one that makes use of a default box collider + trigger on the water objects.

That’s just some initial stuff that’s probably already been requested. I’ll be working with the Oculus and this new vesion closely, so I’ll let you know if anything else springs to mind. Good work, guys!

Yeah, I also couldn’t find a way to get to that welcome screen once Unity editor has launched.
