some very early screenshots of my game

this is some very early screenshots of my project.
so far its just few things i put together for testing out things. right now im trying to get my movement scripts down. to take the screenshots i am just useing an orbit camera to get screenshots to show as i dont have much else right now.

everything here i made myslef which isnt much so far. still have a long way to go.

just a few very early shots. mostly this stuff is just here to test the movement and colision stuff i will be doing and to get a feeling for the scale of things in the game. i will post more as i get done.

Is there a story? Gameplay Ideas? ect ect

i havent gotten as far as a main plot im building a back story for the universe though i dont get the whole every thing is in termoile till you the one man savior of the galaxy shows up kinda stuff. basicly your character will be living in a universe trying to survive by anymeans nessasary. piracy military tradeing nothing new here from the countless other space sims out there. the difference will be the way you control things. small fighter ships will be direct control so you feel like your flying it going head to head agenst other fighters or bigger slower ships. anything bigger then a one man ship will be controled in a eve online style control setting.

this means you view the ship from the outside you point and click the ship moves kinda an rts style your turrets will aquire targets and fire automaticly as you navigate your ship threw the battle. freeing you to make other decisions such as watching your shields and hull. useing tactics like calling in other ships for help or the like.

planet and station exploration I havent decided how im going to control it im thinking of a fps style but also haveing a 3rd person perspective as well for that.

right now im pinning stuff in the notebook trying to figure out what will work best. after i try out a few things im going to be able to make more solid desisions about things.

I am right now starting small when i get one thing working im going to move to the next.

i have played almost every space sim you can think of. and most of them have lots of flaws by them selfs but if they were mixed together i think something grand could be made. after game play i will work more on the story. but right now game play is my main goal. to me the story can take a backseat if the gameplay is rich and robust. alot of the time i find myself playing a game and forgetting about the story cause i like the game play. if i dont like the game play i rush threw the game just to get it overwith.

I dont really have a story to tell yet but hopefully i will.

and as far as the penguins are concerned i havent really thought about it but maybe a race of gun toteing grenade tossing penguins would be fun.

Sounds similar to the one we are doing…though I don’t have any good screens yet to post…

I like it, and your right I am the same way. If it has a good game play, who cares about the story, you tend to forget that anyway.

The only way, is if your playing the story out like a book…Eternal Darkness comes to mind with that. (For those that don’t know, Eternal Darkness is on the Nintendo Game Cube).

here are some new things from my game. this is a concept im working of for a light destroyer wich is quite abit differnt from a figther. its just a concept for now and im still working on it little by little.

that was kinda the inspiration for this ship. it certanly wasnt what the other guy was thinking. lol

yay so i was playing around with the build options. after getting my build and run to work on both stand alone and web browser virsions. so i loaded up my freewebs.com account and proceeded to test if it would run my unity build. it worked so now i can post and update my progress letting you guys have a first hand look at the progress by just checking out the test map/s when there done.

im excited as this allows you guys to see more then just screenshots but the acctual game as it prgresses.

so here it goes the first look the game. right now its just a ship in space that doesnt move. im working on building the scripts to make it do so. but it gives you a sense of scale and the quality im hopeing to acchieve. and i can get some better feed back.

I love it…question. How did you get it to where the mouse does that with holding down the left mouse button?
