source exchange between Mac and PC

Hello,

I’ve somebody that made a Unity project for me on a MAC computer.
When I open it, I’ve plenty of missing items, some strange behaviour and worst of all, when I try to open a scene, then the value list is empty.

It’s there any problem saving on a machine (MAC, USA) and opening on another (PC, Switzerland) ? Could it be an encoding problem ?

My Unity scene may be corrupted since I’ve no item in the Inspector. I’ve tried to reimport, reopen, open but without result.

Thank you for help.

Did they enable the .meta files for source control support?
Did they send you the assets folder, or did they also include /library?

/library contains a ton of project-specific info that handles linking of objects and referencing. To properly share a project like that you want to enable the .meta files (which requires Pro). You can kinda fight your way around it, but I never found it was stable enough to rely on without source control enabled.

Hello Ntero,

thank you for your reply.

I did a reinstall of Unity and it worked. Strange things appens from time to time.

Thank for all.

Gabriel

Ntero, .meta files no longer require pro.
