Hey!
As part of my project structure I separate my source art (maya scenes, fbx, psd’s ect.) from my actual development folder (unity project folder). This is purely to keep a clean project folder and to allow me to mess around in the source art without breaking my game.
I then import the assets into my unity project folder (FBX/ TGAs ect). So for example:

**Source Art :** E:\SourceArt\Boats\Rose\TGA\T\_TiledSections\_D.TGA
**Development :** E:\Development\Brine\Assets\Boats\Rose\TGA\T\_TiledSections\_D.TGA

Now this works quite well, however if I make a change to a source art asset, and right click on the asset in the project view in unity and click reimport, it doesn’t actually reimport the asset from the place I imported it from - just from the tga in the development folder.
This is obviously expected behavior - but isn’t ideal for my situation (as the only way for me to fix this is to manually copy the files across). Is there a better solution to this?

well… the obvious solution is to not use each file twice 😛

you can keep your project clean with an organized file structure as well. for messing around there is usually source control.
