I have my SpaceNavigator profile mapped to joystick axis 1 through 6 and I created Inputs for them in the Project=>Input. I am able to read see in Input.GetAxis for each axis but it gives me -1 always for anything to the left and it ramps up to the right but once it hits the max it goes to -1.
There was some registry settings that I use to use but if I set to use DirectInput the Input.GetAxis always returns 0.
moderator crobl on the 3D Connexion Forum writes that Unity should support the HID “Multi axis controller” input type.
I doubt Unity will do that given that so many other devices (the Logitech Extreme or G27 Racing wheels are examples) that use the joystick HID profile.
Which Unity does support.
Instead, I would very much like to have 3DConnexion provide an option in their driver that allows applications looking for joysticks to see the SpaceNavigator. See my post.
Perhaps other Unity users can pester them - sorry encourage them with a friendly post - to do so…I am sure they would quickly make back the investment in this functionality by selling a boatload of SpaceNavigators. It really is a brilliant device, esp for the price.
