Sprite Manager 2 to 3d Mesh

Hi there,

I understand SM2 creates a simple plane and textures it with the specified sprite animation.
I was wondering if it’s possible to use SM2 to texture a mesh with it’s own UV map.

The intention is to use the optimized Atlas manager to texture animations on top of 3d objects without using Movie textures (the solution has to work on iPhones)

Does it make sense?

I am sorry if this question has been already posted before. I searched for it but couldn’t find anything related.
