Stale frames with solid fps?

Frequently I am getting 1-3 stale frames every few seconds or so but the frame rate is a solid 72fps on Quest 2. I can even run the game comfortably with steady high frame rates at 90hz or even 120hz and still get these frequent stale frames that cause judder.

Anyone else encounter this?

Using Unity 2021.3.4, Vulkan, URP, Oculus Open XR

After days of trying to figure this out I switched back to the Legacy LibOVR oculus backend and the stale frames are gone. Very strange. Seems like an Open XR issue on Quest 2 as this also happens when using Unity’s Open XR plugin.

Sounds like you should file a bug report - but make sure to include a reproducible project (or just zip up your project) otherwise Unity will just tell you it’s not reproducible :frowning:
