Standard Model Problems- after upgrade to 5.6.1

I recently upgraded from Unity 5.6.0 to 5.6.1f1

Now when create a new project, add a sphere, and attempt to select a different mesh for the object, the standard unity model icons look wrong. It looks like they are all being overdrawn with a cube.

I have attempted uninstall and reinstalling unity 5.6.1, but continue to get the same issue.

I tried a different user account on the same computer, but the issue remains.

Is this particular to my system, or do you have the same issue? (I DO have a project that generates preview icons for the project view, I guess it’s POSSIBLE that somehow caused this issue. Alas, I’m NOT sure if this issue occurred, before I opened and upgraded that project. My tests are all with new projects.)

How do I fix this?

I should also mention that the preview pane for the pre-fab of a mesh, does not seem to be clearing/refreshing properly when I mouse-drag to rotate them. It also does not update the preview when I change the selected mesh, until I select a different item, then select the prefab. Here is an example:

I’m not sure if this issue is related to the first, or not.
I have checked the “issues” database but did not find these issues mentioned by anyone else.

I have the same issue, I actually don’t understand anymore what is in those icons.
I also have a problem with Shininess property in all shaders, they look grainy whenever I increase the value from 0.

The model preview has been noted and fixed in 5.6.1p1 , if you upgrade to the latest patch you should find that it does not reproduce anymore
