Using the blacksmith terrain i put a metalic ashader on it . turned metal and smooting to 0. As soon as i put a texture in the heightmap things get wonky. Turned the disp right down. For some reason puting in a height map seems to turn metalness on?. I am halfway up this mountain and it does not have any grass on it but you can see warped green all over it
No probes used not even skybox.NB i am not standing in a meadow but almost at the top of the mountain and that warped grass you see is far below
Also why does the smoothness slider start at 0 reach it shinist at midway then vanish at 1? Should it not progress from 0-1 not 0-1-0. Are my shaders bugged or is this a issue with them?
Don’t put in a heighmap then? I still think this is parallax distortion.
Yes, it is parallax mapping.
Here is a comparison shot of standard parallax mapping (right) and parallax occlusion mapping (uber shader, left)

You can see the same artifacts in your picture.
It will look better if the viewing angle is not too narrow.
At least pretend to put topics in the right forum. Moved…
Pretending is just another word for lying I will do no such thing!
As for the parallax i had turned it all the way down are your examples with a near to zeroed out disp setting?
I thought parallax was to raise geometry not turn things into a metallic looking soup
Parallax mapping doesn’t raise geometry, it changes the output so that it looks displaced, while it is still flat (or your terrain heightmap)
That works for some cases, but not for all. If you have very narrow viewing angles, it gets messy. Try it on a plane and look down to it and change the viewing angle, you will see why it seems to turn into a metallic soup
