Starting my journey, I need help!!

I always wanted to make a game like rulers of nations geopolitical simulator 2 but with different features. So like a political simulator I suppose. I thought id start from scratch with unity cause im broke and unity seems awesome and is free!!

1st off, I know pretty much nothing about coding, I know HTML and some Javascript but that was when I was making websites not video games. (could someone tell me how coding for unity works and how to put it in the game?)

So now for the questions.

  1. In my game im going to want it to be over a map of the world like in rulers of nations and hearts of iron 3. I don’t have a mouse for my laptop so I want to make it so you zoom in and out by using the touchpad. (is there a free model of a map of the world?)

  2. Im going to need know how to make buttons. For example, I want the player (which would be me since im making this game for personal enjoyment) to click a button that says “lawmaking” and a text box comes up and you fill in the text box with the law you want to make and push a “submit” button below it. Since this is my first game, I want it so what ever law you make doesn’t influence anything so no action further is needed after you push submit. and nothing happens.

can someone give me the code for the above?

  1. Im probably going to need to know some more stuff, too. Like how to put images or audio into the game or how to make models (I have blender downloaded but i can’t figure it out yet).

And if I could get links to tuts that would be nice.

P.S. for the map of the world id like it to be present day.

You really need to just work through some Unity tutorials to learn the system first. THEN, you should be able to have a much clearer understanding of how to create your game. You really can’t/shouldn’t just jump into trying to make your dream game before you’ve learned all the basics of Unity.

There are some really good beginner tutorials on YouTube and such. I’d recommend starting with those and working up through more difficult examples.
