Unfortunately in my experience, it’s been a bit buggy and it feels that the team has put the feature in a backlog.
I’ve reported a few bugs myself, one was fixed, one postponed (partially fixed for HDRP demo requirements I assume but it stopped there), and the other’s still open.
The most problematic bug report in my opinion is this one: Unity Issue Tracker - Shadow artifacts when Filtering Quality of Shadows under Lighting in HDRP High Fidelity settings is High (unity3d.com)
It’s been there for a while.
