"Statue Maker" -- Turn animated characters into statues in whatever pose you'd like + PBR Materials

I have no image for this yet!

However, I was working on a script I needed to do for a thing i’m working on…still unannounced… and I realized that what I was building would also allow me to make static meshes of animated characters. All I have to do is pose them in the animation window to the pose I want, and run my script and they become a statue!

So add to that customizable PBR materials for Stone, Marble & Metal, and you’ve got a very easy to use Statue Maker.

You can of course keep the same materials on your character, but I figure for anyone who wants to make statues of the characters for use in their game environment, or for a “Trophy Room”, being able to replace the material with stone, marble or metal would be good. All of those base materials will be fully customizable, with hundreds of unique looks.

I’ll be trying to write a Tri-Planar shader as well, so that the material wraps around the characters nicely.

It won’t be free, but probably $9, with an upgrade for the difference to my environment packages which may feature the scripts by default, as they’ll need them to run properly.

What do you think?

Cool, glad someone thinks it’s a good idea! I take still “photos” of my characters, and usually I have to do a dance between posing the character in the animation, and then checking to see if the camera is right…its annoying. And for the shots where a lot of versions are all in the same frame, I used to have to do one screenshot for each character, since they can’t all be “posed” at the same time using the Animation window, and then photoshop it all together.

Tonight I used the new script, and wow…I saved a ton of time and a ton of headache, and now I can include the “Statue” meshes and prefabs in the asset package just in case anyone else wants to use them. It also made it easier to add particles, since thats something I couldn’t at all easily do before.
