Does anyone worry about steam recommendations associating their games with terrible products? Treyarch and Digital Homicide are about as opposite as it can get, yet steam recommended me The Slaughtering Grounds because I played the black ops 3 beta for an hour.
Would you be concerned if people looking at your game were also recommended an inappropriate or low rated game?
Honestly, I think that most people are just trying to get their terrible games listed in the first place. As horrible as it is to admit, it’s totally encouraging for me. It means that there’s a chance that my game might associated with seriously great games like Pillars of Eternity or FTL.
Haha good point. If DigitalHomicide can get matched up with anything besides a guide to self harm then there’s hope for anyone.
Digital Homicide doesn’t even want to be associated with Digital Homicide, seeing as how they changed their name to Every Click Counts. Of course, nobody told them that changing your name only works if you also change the quality level of your product.
Seems like if your game was shown along side other games of lesser value - yours might stand out as the bright spot in the bunch and get more attention.

Still, what the heck do those games have in common besides being first person shooters? And why of all the first person shooters in the universe would it put those two together?
Maybe the algorithm tries to match upvotes with downvotes or something.
Any kind of visibility is good in my experience.
Maybe overly popular games are intentionally paired with bad games to give newbies exposure? Then again, that game isn’t exactly new, just very negatively received. It’d be cool if Valve did try to push new not-so-well-received titles to the top since you’re going to hear about big games from everywhere else, but after a game has had it’s time to shine and fail, it should fade into obscurity.
