Steering Wheel to rotate relative to the front wheel's direction

Hello,

I was wondering if someone can help me with a rotation issue.

Basically I have a vehicle powered by AI. The user will just be a spectator on the driver’s seat.
Now my main problem is getting the steering wheel to turn when the car turns as well.
The wheels use the standard wheel colliders.

The steering wheel needs to rotate on its local Z axis (facing forward)

Can anyone kind enough to please point me to the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

I think it’s a pretty simple problem:

  • Get the average steering angle of the front WheelColliders.
  • Calculate the ratio of that steering angle vs the maximum steering angle (just a division: angle / maxAngle)
  • Rotate the steering wheel around the Z axis using the calculated ratio multiplied by a maximum rotation angle.

Thank you for your time and for the tip, I’ll give it a try.

BTW, I bought your car physics asset. Great job!

Have a great day

Thank you very much! Then check out the component VehicleVisualEffects. It does exactly what I’ve described above for rotating the steering wheel.

how can i make this?
