Step-by-step Unity trailer creation with iShowU HD and iMovie

Hi!

I stumbled my way through this process for a while, and wrote up a step-by-step tutorial that should help other budget-minded devs create good-looking trailers with iShowU HD. You can check my trailer for a quality reference (I uploaded in 720x480, so watch in 480p for best quality). Here it is:

Basically, I cover a couple of setup tips (like maximize on play) and discuss how to set up your capture and output settings, and then upload to Youtube for decent quality recordings with color correction.

Most of the posts I’d found on the forums were heavy on the software recommendations but pretty light on the how-to, so I hope this fills a need somewhere out there!

Thanks for the info. I am about to submit to iTunes and was looking for an inexpensive tool to do a trailer. Your game looks good as well.

Thanks ozoner! Let me know if you are able to follow, or had any problems with the tutorial.

Thank you for this – very helpful.

However, how do you do this with iPhone? If you maximise on play you can’t use touch controls. You’d have to go through the entire script and replace with mouse events.

Wish there was a way to capture the video of the app from the phone itself.

@groovfruit, if you’re using the Unity iPhone remote, your touch controls on the device get passed straight through to the editor. So it’s not a problem at all!
