Steps To Mars: Build and conquer is a step-counting mobile game that gamifies the experience of walking and rewards players with ZepaPoints.
Core Gameplay Mechanics:
- Step-Counting:
Players walk in real life to accumulate ZepaPoints, and the number of steps they walk in real life equals the number of steps they can take in the game and points earned represented as glowing “coin orbs” visible on their avatar’s hand in-game.
Step-to-game translation mechanics; Step multiplier for first few days of launch and allowing users to bank excess steps for later use in in-game tasks.
- The faster they walk, the more ZepaPoints they earn per minute.
- Steps also generate essential resources like oxygen, minerals, or energy needed for the colony.
- Coin Visualization: A pile of coins grows visibly in the player’s avatar’s hands, representing their accumulated ZepaPoints. The pile slows the avatar down if it gets too heavy, encouraging players to deposit coins at ZepaStops.
- ZepaStops: Checkpoint locations where players can deposit coins into their ZepaWallet, spend coins to unlock upgrades and customizations, and potentially engage with real-world landmarks for added gamification.
- ZepaWallet: A digital wallet that holds ZepaPoints. Upgrading the wallet’s capacity requires saving coins and unlocking special materials.
- Game Challenges:
- Daily Walking Goals: Players are challenged to hit step milestones for bonus ZepaPoints.
- ZepaTreks: Group walking challenges to achieve collective step goals.
- Treasure Hunts: Limited-time events with rare ZepaStops offering high rewards.

- Base Building:
Players use their earned ZepaPoints and resources to construct buildings, research facilities, and upgrade their asteroid colony.- ZepaStops serve as in-game locations where players can “deposit” their collected ZepaPoints to unlock blueprints for new buildings or purchase colony upgrades.
- As the colony expands, users can set up ZepaTrading Outposts, enabling multiplayer trade mechanics with nearby players.
3. Asteroid Environment Challenges:
- Incorporate Asteroid Colony’s survival mechanics:
- Players must manage oxygen, shield energy, and resources to prevent their colony from collapsing.
- Real-world walking helps replenish essential resources like power or atmosphere integrity.
