Throwing my current project, Stevedore 2024, onto this Projects In Progress forum. Milestone this week: enough of the game is working to put together the Teaser Trailer. Demo in a few weeks, and a lot of story/mission/quest content to flesh out in the coming months before summer release.
My original inspiration was some of the “extra” background models in a Synty pack (POLYGON Street Racer), which I felt would be fun to make work as the main game instead of their original theme. Sure, you can call it an asset flip but there are always hundreds of tiny changes to stock assets to make them functional and I like the low-poly style so I doubled down on it with quite a few elements from other sets that complement the whole thing.
The liner notes says “And it’s going to take a little digging to solve the mystery of your overly friendly but strangely elusive cargo operations manager, the Stevedore.” Also, you might not exactly have permission for everything you do…
Got my flipbook style help screens UI working today. The flipbook is entirely 2D in the canvas, including shadows falling across the pages. Not really a fan of the Addressables API yet, but at least I am not keeping a bunch of 1K sprites loaded all the time.
