"Sticks Starships": Pixel-art, interstellar-civilization-building game

Hi unity forums!

We are “Aloft Studio”, a small independent design group. We are bringing you a look at our new project which is under heavy development; we are begining to build our public presence, in order to get community feedback and spread awareness.

The players occupy a procedurally generated planet with its own mythologies and history, and are challenged to work their way through a dazzling tech-tree of baroque complexity, in order to develop warp-capable starships from the most primitive of foundations. Players will develop through classical era metalurgy and alchemy, construct mechanical mills, and go delving far and deep. Later, they will be tasked with developing an industrial era infrastructure, complete with power grid and distribution, and materials acquisition and processing operations. Later still, they will go on a fantastic voyage to construct rockets in order to colonize their solar system for mining operations. All of this will take its finale in a star-hopping Oddessy across the galaxy in search of the final mysteries.

You can check out our kickstarter here, which has the trailer attached to it, along with around 40 concept images:

We are using the unity engine as a design platform, and developing our own engine in parallel; most of the scenes you see are rendered within unity.

Any presentation feedback you can give will help us polish things further; if you like what you see, be sure to help us spread the word about the project, and/or like us on facebook:

Our Kickstarter is going live in a month or two when the awareness is there.

We hope the work resonates with you all!

This is amazing.

I know it has a lot of elements from minecraft, but it also has a lot of fresh stuff. It’s not a clone (and there are so many of them around, and even more WIP’s).

For me, graphics is what’s gonna be the biggest selling point here. It’s quite unique. You’ve managed to capture a lot of details with those cubes

You Sir, most definitely won yourself a fan  Gonna watch this project closely.

Keep up the great work and may the creative force be with you!

Thanks a lot! It means a substantial deal to us that our work is positively received.

My jaw just dislocated itself from dropping 20 feet. :stuck_out_tongue:

This looks amazing and I hope you are able to release this game into the wild!

Keep up the good work and I’m looking forward to playing this!

Thanks! We expect the first demo to be out midsummer, pretty close to the Kickstarter launch date.

As an update, our homepage is now up displaying news and content related to the game!

This is really cool! I love it!

I saw your colab post and it really got my attention. I’ve got my own project wrapping up soon, so maybe you’ll hear from me in the future.
