Yeah - not entirely the same - but I think if they decided to allow gifting or certificates - they would research the best option for the community.
Personally I like the Steam ‘purchase as a gift’ process. Simple and clean.
Obviously I can’t make the Unity Asset Store support gifting… but I can (and have) set up an alternative shop that does!
Please check out DigitalGift.Shop for your last-minute holiday shopping needs!
There are only a handful of assets there at the moment, but the store is open and ready for shopping.
Asset developers: PM me (or send email to support@digitalgift.shop) to get your products added to the store! We’ve done a soft launch this year, just barely in time for the holidays, but by next year I hope to have all the best-quality assets available here. And of course, birthdays come all year round! So get in touch, and let’s get you set up!
The funny thing is that they have a voucher system in place (I.e the assets you get when you buy a subscription) - not sure why they can not simply use this to allow users to buy a voucher code of an asset (which could be gifted)
By the way, is one allowed to give away a voucher code that one has no use for?
Nice Joe.
Please add newsletter signup as soon as you can. Daily and weekly email updates is a great way to provide direct notifications without the customer feeling over-marketted to. I just made that term up - but it is something that I’m sure we all feel going on around us.
