Still no gifting on the Asset Store :(

Sigh… Another Christmas… another year I won’t get any of the 77 assets (probably totaling thousands of dollars) on my wish list. :frowning:

And as an Asset developer myself, another year that nobody will get PixelSurface under their tree.

Why oh why is Unity so blind (or stubborn) on this issue?!?

Fraud

There’s no more fraud involved in gifting than otherwise. Every other online store of any note has gifting.

Well, that’s for gift certificates… I’d rather be able to give (and receive) specific assets.

BUT a gift certificate to the Asset Store would be a far sight better than nothing, which is what we have now, so I’ve given it my vote!

Yeah - not entirely the same - but I think if they decided to allow gifting or certificates - they would research the best option for the community.
Personally I like the Steam ‘purchase as a gift’ process. Simple and clean.

Hear hear!

Great idea!! I would love assets for Xmas and I imagine my team members would as well.

Xmas Necro!

Was waiting for @JoeStrout to update his thread - but he must be a busy hedgehog this year!

Please add gifting to the asset store - thanks. Merry Christmas!

Obviously I can’t make the Unity Asset Store support gifting… but I can (and have) set up an alternative shop that does!

Please check out DigitalGift.Shop for your last-minute holiday shopping needs!

There are only a handful of assets there at the moment, but the store is open and ready for shopping.

Asset developers: PM me (or send email to support@digitalgift.shop) to get your products added to the store! We’ve done a soft launch this year, just barely in time for the holidays, but by next year I hope to have all the best-quality assets available here. And of course, birthdays come all year round! So get in touch, and let’s get you set up!

The funny thing is that they have a voucher system in place (I.e the assets you get when you buy a subscription) - not sure why they can not simply use this to allow users to buy a voucher code of an asset (which could be gifted)

By the way, is one allowed to give away a voucher code that one has no use for?

Yes, you can give away vouchers.
