Still no reply

5 hours ago I posted a question about FPS help and never got a reply. The same question still stands and here’s my original message again:

I cannot get my gun to properly mount to my main camera. Technically, when I grab the FPS controller, and move it around with the mouse, I can do this in the program, but then when I want to play the game, the gun disappears. Here’s the structure of what I’ve tried:

First Person Controller
Graphics
Main Camera
weapons
9mm
9mm pistol

the empty game object ‘weapons’ is the child of Main Camera so to follow the camera, the 9mm under that is another empty game object to hold my 9mm pistol. No errors or anything like that. My gun just will not stay in the position that it is supposed to. Everytime I close the game, the gun always goes back in place. Some please help me, this is extremely frustrating.

I figured for the Unity forums, that this would be a simple request, although I have exhausted everything that I know of and have looked to other tutorials online for help, and they all do the same procedure so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Please respond this time around, I really need to get this working.

Well… Boo-hoo.

You could do a friendly bump to your other thread, no need for a new one.

This is a forum, a place where people can help. Its not required.

Also, 5 hours isn’t a lot of time for someone to respond. You should start getting worried when you’re closer to 1 week (with bumping every 24 hours).

One more thing, bump your thread instead of creating a new one :stuck_out_tongue: As mentioned previously, try not to bump more than once every 24 hours

what the hell kind of reply is that??? I didn’t use the other thread, because you people bitch when there is double posting. Don’t respond to my question if you’re going to be an ass. Understand or do you need me to draw it in crayon?

Okay Dman, thanks for that response.

Usually people do respond in a forum and this is understood when users sign up. If you don’t know the answer to my question, then all you have to do is say so.

Let`s calm down eyh?

No need to react that way to perfectly reasonable answers. Some times it takes more than one day for people to reply to a thread, so please be patient.

You call that a reasonable answer???

Correction: We “bitch” when there is unnecessary double posting.

Bumping a thread is perfectly acceptable as long as you leave enough time between each bump.

It is bitching, you don’t have to place quotes around it. Further more, you could just say, you don’t know how to resolve my issue at this time, that would be better than responding the way you are.

I put quotes around it because it is a word that I do not usually say, and because I was quoting you.

I think you misinterpreted my intentions, I was letting you know that double posting was perfectly acceptable when you’re bumping a thread. No harm intended.

Then it was mis-interpretation. I will wait to see if I get a response about my question. Thanks.

Bumping is generally tolerated if it’s not done excessively. I personally find posting multiple threads for the same issue much more annoying.

Also I think my original reply is pretty much in line with the subject of this thread. You posted to complain that no one was replying to you, and I replied to that.

Also, if you want your original issue resolved, you could add some more info in the original thread. Does the gun stay in its place? Or does it move (just not with the camera?). Are you rendering the gun with the same camera, etc etc.

One way I usually bump my threads is to provide alternate information, even if it feels redundant. It acts as a bump and may prompt someone to provide useful insight with the new information.

One question about your issue. Have you checked the Hierarchy panel and made sure that the relative positions are appropriate (the 9mm game object isn’t 1000 units from the weapons game object for example)? Also if it’s still on the hierarchy you can select it and press F to focus on the gameObject to more easily find it in the world. And Thirdly double check all the Renderers are enabled (the check box on their component).

I may be misunderstanding whether you mean disappears from the camera’s view or disappears from the hierarchy however.

@ AcidArrow,
This was the first time I’ve ever heard of the term, Bumping in this thread. I don’t come to forums hardly ever for people just like you. You are the primary example of why I prefer to stay away, and you should not feel happy about that, unless you really are a sadist. I’m a full time programmer and I wanted to try Unity, so I took a try to come here and ask for help, then I got your reply. A reply that was unnecessary. You didn’t have to say what you did. There was nothing positive that came out of it. It’s that kind of talk that 20 or 30 years from now, if you were working for me, you’d find your ass out on the curb and out of the job. You really shouldn’t jerk someone around when you have no idea if I’d ever run into you in the future. Stranger things have happened so maybe you should take this experience and consider it for the sake of your future. To address the other portion of your response, you are not god. It’s not your job to make other people’s lives more difficult just because you didn’t like my initial message in regards to my last message. THE REASON, that I’ve been questioning people responding to me on here, is because I had 3 other previous times that I asked questions and no responses came of them, so stop judging me when you don’t have all the facts. Finally, I gave the information that I thought was enough. Giving anything else didn’t come to my mind and I’m sorry about that, but your response still didn’t help. The bottom line is that forums have a bad reputation for unprofessional jerks such as yourself, but they don’t have to carry this reputation. All users like you have to do, is respond like Ntero did below, or Dman did to my original response. THOSE are professional responses.

Since I’m done talking to you and I’m not going to come back to this thread to see anymore of your useless, manipulative responses to me, I will have to come back another time and start a new thread again, thanks to your unprofessionalism. This could have all been avoided, had you just decided to make a response like the other users on here. Since I have a bachelors in Computer Science, a masters in Computer Engineering and another masters in Business Management, I have a great promise of a high position someday, so you had better hope that I never run into you, because if I do, our meeting will not be a pleasant one and I swear to god you will regret the way you’ve treated me today.

Seriously?
