Strobing material assignments

Hi all,

This problem appeared in v3b5, and I was hoping it would go away with the next update. Unfortunately it’s still here. I’d report the bug, but the file is over a gig.

Anyway, I’m just looking for other people who’s seen this problem.

Basically there’s been no problem till 3b5. Now, if I pan or move the viewport in editor mode, the materials in the objects (lounge and painting) seems to change assignment.

I’ve checked the objects, and there’s no problem with the amount of elements assigned, or the materials assigned to them… For example, the painting has 2 Diffuse shaders, both just using small jpgs. (1 for the art, and 1 for the frame). However as you can see, sometimes it shows the wood (frame) texture on the object, and sometimes it shows the painting texture.

I’ve looked at the Inspector for the objects as they strobe, and there’s no change there at all.

Anyone else seen this?

ps. I know it’s dark. The lighting is WIP.

Looks like z fighting. Is the painting mesh in the exact same spot as the wood frame’s face?

If that’s the case, then the painting will try to override the wood frame and vice versa. If you’re unsure, upload the painting object and I’ll take a look.

Thanks for the ideas, however it’s not z-fighting. The painting is a box. 6 polys. no waiting.

The floor is also a single layer.

Hi,

This problem is still present. It’s not z-thrashing, as there’s no coincedent planes.

Might it be a video-ram issue? There are quite a lot of textures in this scene, and it’s not yet optimized.
