Stuck on installing 2018 beta 4

Sitting on a fresh windows install here.
Got Unity Hub immediately and told it to fetch 2018.1.0b4.
It finished downloading, but now it is stuck on Installing.

I don’t know if it has stuck, there is no indication of it working.
It has been going on for a short hour.

When I navigate elsewhere inside Unity Hub, and back to Beta Releases, 2018.1.0b4 - Download button is back.
I can download 2018 beta over and over again, but it never installs.

Hi Tesrym, which components did you try to install ?

First I tried with only Standard Assets and MVSC. No Platforms. And then I tried with everything except Platforms.

I also fetched 2017.3.0f3.
It finished downloading.
Then there was a small command line window rain, so something happened for sure.
But 2017.3.0f3 is stuck on installing.

However, its shortcut icon was added to desktop.
I checked where it was, and I see it is located inside Unity/Hub folder.
The 2017 folder is populated, while the 2018 folder is completely empty.

I have not launched 2017, so we can use this oppurtunity to troubleshoot a clean windows install.
Maybe Unity Hub is missing something it depends on that is missing on my system or something.

Would you please try again 2018.1.0b4 without MVSC ?

It took some time.
2018 finished downloading, but was put in queue since 2017 was “installing”, so I restarted my computer.
When I started Hub again, 2017 was detected as a finished install.
So I downloaded 2018 again. (With no extras)
Now it is stuck on “installing”, but I am unable to agitate forward the download button again.

Oh nevermind, there’s the download button again.

Alright, we’re going to investigate this. I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks again @Tesrym for reporting.

I had the same issue. Ran Hub as admin and it cleared it right up. Documentation failed to install, but that was easy to add under “Add component” Not sure if that helps you or not, but it worked for me.

Running it as admin actually did clear it up real good.
Downloaded 2018 with all components except Platforms (Did not check docs) and everything runs.

I didn’t think about running it as admin. I rarely think about running anything as admin anymore.
Thanks!

Hum, normally, you do not need to run as admin as the elevated rights are asked on the first install. Did you see the window asking for elevated rights on your first install? (It is asked only on the first install when freshly opening the Hub)

I can confirm that the Unity Hub installer triggers UAC.
