Sub Station WIP thread

I’ve always wanted to post a WIP thread of an environment from beginning to end. Here is my attempt. I’ll post updated progress along with web-browser playables. The environment will be quiet small, but fully explorable.

I’m using unity 3.5 Pro, Playmaker, Ultimate FPS camera, and all the tricks I know.

This is the initial blockout. Just figuring out where I want everything.

This environment will be based off a separate game I’m working on. It’s an RTS game so these example units are very low poly. But it gives a sense of where I’m heading.

Next up I’m do a quick concept painting to set the mood, prop placement, and overall look.

Thanks for viewing! Hope to have more soon.

Blocking the environment in a bit more and bringing everything into unity. Setting up the camera, and basic lighting.

Web Playable on the way.

Wow that’s looking awesome!

Thanks! Here is a lunch-time paintover to clarify some of the shapes.

O-o if only there were a shader for that last pic’s style.

Love the map! :slight_smile: Is it lightmapped or realtime-shadows / ssao?

@Caliber
You could try unity’s built-in toon shader. That might work.

Nice! Cool dock, you got that imperfection in the boards that is so difficult to get. What’s the game going to be about?

Thanks for the comments! This is just an environment for fun and practice, and also to show the process I use. I was hoping to have the first playable web version out by now, but I don’t have it buttoned up yet. Tomorrow I’m leaving for GDC Online in Texas and the next update will be sometime when I get back.
