Submesh is much darker? - solved

Hi all,

I have modeled a wall in Blender and in that wall is a hole. So far so good. Then I wanted to make the hole a bit more irregular like someone has used a sledgehammer. I didn’t want to add edge loops all over the wall so I duplicated the interior faces, made them a separate object and sliced and shaped that instead. After that, I made sure the UVs are aligned so there will be no visible gap to the main part of the wall.

After importing I noticed the object was way darker than the rest of the wall, so I joined the objects in Blender, I tried smooth and flat shading because I had a hunch it might have to do with the rather large polys of the wall but to no avail.

If this is a general “thing” with submeshes I have to accept that but what whould be the best approach here? Do I have to cut the whole wall for the extra geometry?

Thanks in advance!

Turns out I just had to bake the lightmaps again. :roll_eyes:Obvious, but nothing I am very familiar with so I forgot.
