Submitting my game for critique?

Hey y’all!

I’ve made a crap game and now want you guys to tell me why it’s crap.

I plan to make a post in the ‘Showcase’ area of the forum, but what’s the best way for you people to play the game? Where can i host the webplayer or downloadable file without making my own website?

It probably isn’t worth uploading to Wooglie, and from what i’ve read, Dropbox doesn’t seem to work too well. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Tom

Maybe try making a private game on itch.io?

I’d say, spend the half-hour and ten bucks to make your own website. I’ve had mostly good experiences with dreamhost.com, and they’re cheap… and nowadays, I’m pretty sure there are even cheaper hosts if you look hard enough.

EDIT: And make it a webplayer build, not a download, unless there is some technical reason why that’s impossible. Most of us will not download a random executable just to try it out, but we’ll happily fire up a game in a browser!

What’s the difference between downloading a random build for free and buying a random build on Steam?

Put up a webplayer build… OR, put up executables for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and then get @blizzy to track down every person who won’t bother to download a random executable to try it out, and argue with them.

Steam has quality control and authentication and stuff. Chances I downloading malware from steam are slim. And if anyone does, steam will get wind of it and pull it pretty quickly.

You’ve actually given me the idea to make a blogspot or somthing and host it there, thanks

I certainly will have an actual website in the future, but i’d like to put some thought into it.
