SubSurf not visible in 2.49a

I just downloaded Blender 2.49a and can’t find ‘SubSurf’ in Mesh anymore… where did it “go?” Can anybody help me, please?

As a modifier?

Correct as a modifier. I thought I find subsurf as a regular button in mesh…

I don’t remember when exactly it happened, but a number of functions have moved to the modifier tab over the past few versions.

yeah… in 2.3 it was still “there”… thanks anyway!
