Suggestion: - Collaboration: Help Offering, Help Wanted

Can I suggest to split the collaboration forum to:

  • Help Wanted - I have a project i need help on
  • Help Offering - I can help on other projects

I support this

Just like the Commercial Forums.

No point, particularly when there is no interest there and replies.

I agree with the eskimo, split the sections.

Well, why should this split take place ?
The opening post isn’t really portraying a good job of making an argument here
There’s no visible noise, each post is wonderfully approved and therefore the quality is taken care of beforehand (what still should be done on commercial forums as well cough) and it’s a breeze to browse through project - which I’m doing almost daily.
I’m satisfied with the way the collaboration forum is set up.

Too many shooters, MMORPG’s, WoW and Call of Duty wannabe’s. So many high school kids with 20 member teams. We should put those all in one forum, and everything else in the other forum.

Oh yeah, too many zombie, apocolypse, shooting games, those need to be put in one forum, along with all the MMORPG and WoW and Call of Duty

Beware, this seems to be a new take on the collab is broken, but it’s actually going to turn into a repeat of all the other collab is broken threads!

But, I guess a looking for team list would be kinda useful, after-all, not all projects use the collab thread, the good ones might not use it or their post is long buried. Then somebody on a team might see this person in the looking for team forum and be like, “hey we should get this person!” It’s feasible.

Artist receives +50 private messages, that’s not good at all.

I disagree.

A good rule of thumb is that a forums should only be created when there is already enough topics create to warrant its creation.

For example, splitting collab into collab and commercial worked because both had lots of posts. For example, creating 5 new ‘User Group’ forums didn’t work because there simply isn’t enough interest to support one, let alone 5.

Looking at today, seven threads in the last six days, doesn’t suggest there is remotely enough activity.

Are you forgetting that the commercial thread wasn’t filtered and the collab is? The collab thread has few post because people can’t openly converse or post freely, not because people don’t wish to post. The collab forum used to be buzzing with activity.

Nope, because that is irrelevant given the proposition and my answer.

Or many were rejected for a variety of reasons - No URL, No pictures, No list of skills, portfolio, etc.

I don’t think there would be much left to go into the other forum.

I feel like the collaboration forums are failing because of most are
" OMG, I WANT TO MAKE THE NEXT CALL OF DUDY BUT I CANT CODE, DO MUSIC, DO ART or (anything else really)." Most people who are skilled at something are either good at everything, are in teams, needs a team (me) :(, or commission based.

Yeah, if you have a low/no budget, then the only chance of making a team, in my (limited) experience is to work on the game yourself for about a year, and then stumble across an artist/programmer. Or, you get lucky and have someone contact you. It’s next to impossible to get a team together from the very beginning.

Again… how is that remotely relevant?

its Very relevant, I will not collab with someone if they are making a game with no basis of me wanting to join, I don’t want to collab with a person who started 2 days ago. I want to see what they have so far not , “I want to make game, help please”
