Suggestion on Learn

Hello!

I was just browsing through the Learn section, as my contract on my job is about to expire and I wanted to give game developing another chance.

But as I was browsing, I noticed something about all the tutorials. Instead of just making a quick browsing, I ended up having to go into differend projects and more or less start the tutorial to see what difficulty level it was on.

My suggestion: Why not devide the tutorials into following:

Beginner: Roll-A-Ball tutorial etc, etc.

Intermediate: Tanks Tutorial etc, etc.

Advanced: Procedural Cave Generation Tutorial etc, etc.

Also, I don’t know if I put this in the right section of the forums, so feel free to move it.

Well you can always have google help you with that. For example if you want all the intermediate projects search google with:

Difficulty Intermediate site:https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/projects

If I search for overall tutorials, sure, that’s how you google it. But that doesnt give any awnser at all to my suggestion.

When you press that link, why not list them in different categories, from beginner → Intermediate → Advanced. Instead of having to click every link, then klick onto a step to see the diffictulty. Why not list them in https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/projects - Straight off the bat? It stops people from getting scared off and shows a willingness to help new people.

It aint much programming and it helps the site look more friendly.

Yes a learning page in particular should be easy to navigate. My suggestion was only meant as a quick workaround.
With the previous experience that was the Unity forum “Update” I am a little worried that they may end up breaking more things than fixing them

I don’t get the problem.

Where there is a clear ‘easy, medium, hard’ scale, it’s pointed out on the page. Like so:

Otherwise the tutorials are arranged by topic, in the rough order you should complete them.

Yes the scripting section has an overview page but things like the “projects” page does not indicate the level clearly until you enter the specific projects.

Learn something else. Learning game development will only lead you to heartbreak.

(I’m bitter right now)
