So, I want to make a zombie’s head blow off/up. I got that part fixed.
Now I’m just wondering about the best way to get some really cool gore as the head blows up? I guess one way is to create some particles, shatter the head and just create force to spread it all about. I’m not sure if there is any other way…
I got some particles for gore when shooting at the zombies, but right now I want something spectacular. Any suggestions?
In my current project I am using a combination between instantiating a “wreck”/dead version of the enemy that is already chopped up (putting a rigidbody on it makes it fall apart), and combining that with an explosion prefab that is simultaneously instantiated. Of course, as you say, you could add additional force to the dead instance for that extra visual “oomph”.
I like to go old school. Get out some paper and paint. Throw some paint splats on the paper. Scan it into your computer. Alter them in whatever image editing program you like. Make some custom particle alpha channels out of them. UV animated look really nice with some finessing.
