Super Quadrate - Testing

Hello everyone. I’d like to introduce my 2nd game, “Super Quadrate”.

Super Quadrate is an endless jumper that allows the player to jump and shrink to avoid obstacles. The background lighting and parts of the background pulse to the music. I’m trying to keep a feeling of constant movement throughout the game, even the menus.

The music isn’t final yet, I’m having a hard time finding music that I like (I want it to have the same type of forward momentum music as “Super Hexagon”).

I’m nearing release on Android but I still have stuff to do, mainly beta testing. If anyone would like to help test out my game I’m running a beta testers community on google+ that will allow you to download it from the Play store.

I plan to add some more levels over time, as well as leaderboards.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Hello elforama, the game from the screenshot looks rather interesting. The Start texture doesn’t seem to fit in with that grey to transparent gradient. Maybe make the pause stand out. Interesting use of fag and I like how the style appears to be modern retro. Please set the video to public when possible. Super Hexagon is an amazing game so I’m glad I’m not the only one who shares interest with that game. Try learn how to make the techno bit tunes if you want the freedom of music and you don’t have the restriction of time.

It appears to be a 3D version of the Impossible Game. What the Impossible Game lacked was amount of levels so if you are able to pull off at least 6 good endless/static levels, I’ll be satisfied. Leaderboards seem like the way the future (and the present) is leaning towards so I do suggest working towards that goal. That’s a part of my feedback. I can’t really say much until I see the video.
Good Luck

Thanks for the feedback Lemo76. I’ve now made the video public for all to see, thanks for letting me know.

It’s good to have another Super Hexagon fan here! My game is randomly procedural like that, not static like the Impossible Game. However, I have been playing with the idea of later adding some static levels in a future update.

I agree with you on the start texture not fitting. I’m having trouble getting text to not blend too much in the background while still looking good. As for the music, I’m trying to make my own, although it’s proving time consuming for me. Getting music for my game has pushed back my release schedule =[

I’m loving the video! I like how the game flows with the music, when previewing the level it kind of plays as well and the randomly generated level / background. Awesome! I like the shrink feature.

Really awesome! I’d buy it.
Could you provide the shaders that you used?

Thanks guy! This has motivated me to work harder now, haha. It’s good to finally get an outside opinion.

@GamehubDev For the shaders I used Glow 11 from the asset store. Although by default the “glow” is turned off in my game.

Hi guys, my game is now on the google play store. It’s free if anyone wants to try it: HERE

Now I’m going to be working on getting leaderboards built into it. Not sure what I’ll be going with yet, but I’m looking at google play games leaderboards. Seeing how I stack up against others will make it more fun. What do you think?

Also going to be adding some more levels with new obstacles. I’m thinking spikes to jump over, but then against, I kind of what the keep with the cube theme I have going on… Maybe electrify it?

Also thinking of adding an optional effect to give it old school vector line graphics.

Since my last post, I’ve added more music, refined the effects, changed the levels a little to make things slightly easier, and some other small details.
