I would like to introduce to you my newest game, called (working title) SuperGlowBoy.
It’s a 2d platformer game made with Unity5.
Basically, it’s about our hero character SuperGlowBoy and his escape of the dark world he gets stuck in.
He will have to run, climb ladders, dash, crouch and jump to make his way through the many death traps that await him on his journey through this dark world. Luckily he has you to guide him to the exit in one piece…
or to make him die in horrible ways.
I bought a template for this game (Acrocatic from Asset Store) and have put extra’s in the system,
like mobile input, “idle” animation system, a few things that i felt where missing. I made a character
(and his animations) in Inkscape. So far, i have a working 2d platformer character, which can move
left and right, jump, double jump, dash, crouch, run walls, jump walls, climb ladders,
move with moving platforms aaaaaaaand…
die
I also created a test level with some death traps to show you what i got so far. Mind you, my mac does not like recording the screen while playing in the Unity editor, but i managed to create a nice looking video :
This game will be released to Windows pc, Mac, Android and IOS.
I intend to post regularly, updates, videos and insights in how i went about creating this game.
Please leave any comments with thoughts, remarks and questions, and i will try to answer them
Yes at the moment it does look alot like the one you mentioned, however the game is still in early development. I must admit that i am a programmer in the first place, a story creator/design artist i am not, not by far.
I was inspired by that red character tho and also another game, but nothing, at the present time, is written in stone.
It will however be a 2D platformer, a game genre i realy love, and it will be about SuperGlowBoy.
Also, to answer more precise to your question, the red character is more like 16bit style, which is not the style of SuperGlowBoy, the red character is also more fastpaced, and SuperGlowBoy, well, glows
All funny business aside, if you happen to have a good idea for SuperGlowBoy please don’t hesitate
to elaborate It would be awesome to hear your positive input.

Quit while you are getting nowhere. OR, never ever show off a game that blatantly rips off of another popular game without doing something that differentiates it from its greatest influence.
As you may be able to tell myself and Antman don’t really like copyright infringers. With that said I can see you want your game to be different, it just isn’t.
SuperMeatBoy is a super popular game AND you need to make your game different, at least visually. I think you might be able to get away with recreating game play mechanics - that are marginally different, but the art has to change for there to be a detachment from the game that has inspired you.
Lets see here - Drop Super Glow Boy completely because it is a complete rip from SuperMeatBoy.
An alternate idea could be - - - -
A jumping spider has all the same characteristics as your glowing character does. That would be pretty interesting I think.
And make a story behind him - maybe he is trying to go rescue his 1000 jumping spider baby from the evil praying mantis spider eater.
At the end of each stage he warps through a spider web and rescues one of his children.
And swap out all the obstacles with natural “nature” obstacles. So the switching platform could be a moving log or branch, and the spikes could be mud or quick sand. That would be different. Don’t know if MeatBoy had to evade that kind of obstacle?
And the spinning blades could be something else related to nature. I don’t know.
I really like 2D platformers also and you have shown by the video that you can make some pretty cool mechanics. Just need to change it up a lotta bit to make it inspired by, but not a complete ripoff of SuperMeatBoy.
What do you think @ANTMAN0079 with a totally different character and theme - this could really be an interesting game.
The Animators Spider Idea is actually pretty good, because the splatter effect is already green!
Anyway, you will need some original character design - there is no way around that.
If you like, I can point you to a good Character-artist friend of mine (though his work is not free). Just PM me.

I think that I would never give another developer ideas about making their game better without getting some monetary credit for it. All I can say is that you’re starting from a base (Super Meat Boy).
Now, turn it into something that’s blatantly not somebody else’s game. And don’t name it Spider-Man.
Didn’t we already talk about ideas being worthless?
And if I had limited art skills I’d make limited or “stylized” art for the game instead of blatantly copying. The spider could be a stylized representation of a jumping spider. However I do agree Spider-Man has been used.
How bout SuperGlowSpider.
