Surround an object with a particle effect?

My aim is to make an enemy that’s kind of like a floating orb, emitting a bit of light with particle effects. Should I a)Do everything in 3DS Max, including particle system or b) import model and attach it to a particle system inside of Unity? And if I can do b (which I would prefer if possible), how would I go about attaching the particle system to the object?

I don’t think you can import particle system from Max to Unity. Every 3D Software have it’s own solvers for the dynamics and don’t forget, that when you make particle effects in 3D softwares like Max, Maya, you are baking their simulations, but in Unity everything is realTime.

So i guess you’ll have to import only your character and then do the particle effects with the Shuriken particle system in Unity…

You can just parent the emitter to the enemy and it will move with it…
