Survivable - Only one way to survive (WIP)

My game Survivable is to recreate a game by taking bits, and pieces of other similar games in the genre that I like. My sole reason for this game is to remove the “realism” from these types of games and add more of a fast paced arcadey type feeling that came over me when playing Unturned 2.0, WarZ, Rust, and Apocalypse Rising

Here are a few screen shots of the game at its current state:

Here is a Gameplay video of me testing the current functionality.

I need feedback from you of what should be added to the game?
Currently this is what I want to have added in the future Updates in order of priority 1 being the highest

  • Crafting Items/Tools

  • Crafting System

  • Environmental/Building Models

  • Larger Map

  • Vehicles

  • Player Model/Animations

  • Zombie Model/Animations

  • More food/weapon items

  • Story for the map created

  • Multiplayer Networking (Very last thing ever)

How do you intend to make the game more “fast paced arcadey”?
First things that jump to my mind would be
-Safe slots for some items
-Crafting without a crafting table
-Lootable weapons on the map

Is it just you or do you have a team? It’s a very ambitious project.

Have you worked with multiplayer networking before? You’ll need to consider that almost every action you make will have to be (or should be) authorized by the server. All buildings placed, items crafted, movements, attacks etc must be run by the server and replicated to all other players. In my experience, building your game around multiplayer makes it a lot simpler in the end. Adding multiplayer to a singeplayer game at the end is no simple task.

Yes it is only me working on the project. The only help I think I will need is for the networking in the end. And I am fully aware of the difficulty of implementing it.

Sweet as I hope it all goes well, can’t wait to see some updates

If you’re going to get help with networking. I’d recommend consulting with someone now to get your game “network ready” before it gets too complex.

For fast and arcady, forget crafting. Why is everybody so obsessed with crafting? I can’t think of one game that had crafting that didn’t annoy me.

Crafting is slow and unfit for an arcade style game. Instead, have weapons/key items with limited usability, along with huge hordes of zombies. Player gets low on ammo or item durability, they know they have to jump into the fire to find some more. Kind of like that game, I forget what it was called, Frozen Planet or something. You had limited oxygen or something and had to keep killing enemies to keep from dying. Not saying your game needs to be that hectic, but if player is constantly forced to brave the hordes to keep having the best goodies, that would make for some fun gameplay that would be different than your average tinkering zombie survival game.

Update :
I have been working on the building/crafting system. I went for a very straight forward concept of having the resources then being able to craft the items and placing them. Here is a video of me testing the system.

This is the basic base you can make
