Hi,
I decided to start a survival horror project in my free time just to improve my environment skills
This is just a first test to see if my fast way of making inside cave environments works
I used crazybump to make displacement maps of my seamless textures put those 2 on a basic mesh in autodesk max embed the displacement map on to my model and exported that to unity
this way i could easy create large inside cave environments without a lot of work on modeling all the rocks this saves a lot of time
but enough talking go check it out

Make your way true the cave
Next:
- add monsters underwater
- add props and other models
Its spooky. But I really don’t like the light that is shining under you. Also its hard to get out of the water.
Good start
hi,
good to get some feedback.
about the water i know also the under water effect will change a lot,
this is just a empty level to create some feeling
Update

Added:
-new material
-new lightning
-some models
This is still a free time project so it wont go fast
Its actually very nice, but you might wanna fix up the deformation of the cave texture, i noticed that in some parts, the texture was stretched, which made it look bad, its much easier to see when there full light but i did notice it. Ur on a great start, just make those webs a little more realistic, and make the player’s sight a little bit blurry and blue when ur under water, and fix up the player control, it was really annoying walking around the caves when i was in the air most of the time
Im working on a survival horror myself so feel free to ask for some feedback on important aspects such as lighting, and background music, etc.
Good work
Wow thats a great sense of immersion.
Your level deserves a much better texture though
Theres a few sites with free textures out there, although you often have to make seamless ones yourself and its quite difficult to do right.
I like it, a few questions though…
Did you know if you strafe you run about 5x faster?
Also, on the guy in the spier webs, I don’t know if it was on purpose but for me there pretty much spikes coming out of him. Almost like a vertex (or about 7) was wayyy out of place. I think also though it maybe part of the web? not sure, keep it up!
Like it!.. you could add some bats there…
Ambient is very good… just … try to experiment with the spotlight…
try to add a spotlight cookie… that makes ambient very realistic…
Good Work…
This looks rather amazing
some mist would be nice to give a airy feling. And may I note Im on W7, 4gb Ati radeon and some Ati quad core and it is slightly lagging.
