Swiftshader 3D for Flash

Just report the news but i don’t understand how Adobe will manage this technology with only 100 kb added to flash player

Would be nice to see a pure software (cpu only) renderer integrated in Unity…

That was a great joke.
Software fallback means that basic iphone games running on a 3G already require a 2Ghz cpu to run …
Also, DX actually offers software fallback for things that can fallback, but shaders just can’t, that simple it is. either you have shader hardware or you won’t see it. point.

Adobe will realize that somewhen too that software fallback is no fallback, its a death strike cause the content won’t run on on the machines requiring the fallback. Shit I’m on a Core i7 4x 3.2Ghz and even on that machine some flash facebook games stutter when they get a reasonable amount of data to work with (farmville larger farms, good quality) … so much for “software fallback” (all these games are pure software fallback). Just to make that clear: Reasonable amount of data in this context means "stuff that in real engines worked on my 386 and 486 a decade ago in DOS days and win95 days as X-Com Apocalipse for example shows extremely well, yet adobe fails to do even 10 times more trivial things a decade later on cpus that are 200-1000 times as powerfull as my 486 and Pentium back then

It seems Adobe is definitely killing Director. It is shame, it was a good tool.

It seems they support SM3.0 features…

Other than that, there are cases where mobile devices aren’t the targeted platforms… I think a highly optimized software renderer can turn out beneficial when publishing to windows/mac environments. It’s much better to have something run somewhat slow instead of not running at all…
