System.dll and System.Xml build error SOLVED!

Hi all,

Since everyone has been so helpful, I thought I’d contribute to the cause.

Not sure if this is a unique issue to my computer or what but just in case its not I wanted to let everyone know about a potential problem.

I love to use eval() to reference objects by name with a postfix number for example:

object1
object2
object3

you can iterate through a list of objects like this in a for loop and use thisObject = eval(“object”+i); to get a reference. Well it turns out that if you use eval() in your javaScript it won’t build and will give you an error. I spent three days to learn this bit of truth.

Not sure if this is in the manuals - if it is I missed it. Anyway see my other post on this if you want more details

Thank you for posting what was actually causing the problem

Generally you should avoid heavy usage of strings as much as possible on the iphone or you will get stutters every few seconds when the garbage collector is forced to free all the strings.

Each string operation leaves the old string orphaned, creating a new one, which you potentially free more or less right away again as in this case, which will seriously flood it if you for example do it in ongui, update, fixedupdate
