Hello all,
Firstly, I have a huge vision for this storyline. It draws influence heavily from titles like Firefly / Serenity, The Walking Dead, I am Legend, etc.
My vision far exceeds what I can accomplish on my own. So I’m trying to break the experience down into little chunks. I have the content for Episode I, but my budget can’t get me the assets I need, so I’m sticking with getting the game mechanics down in a single level, and that’s Episode II.
I can see this being an RTS succeeded by an FPS.
A bit of info and storyline, all of which is heavily subject to change before the release of the demo.
The CDC has released a new flu vaccine that is delivered by a genetically engineered virus. A new president has just been elected, and in an effort to flex the muscles of a state healthcare system, almost 90% of the population receives the vaccine in a period of just 3 months. Awards are given. Flu is gone. Everyone’s happy. About a year later, people who were vaccinated start exhibiting symptoms like rabies, getting really violent. Riots start all over the country, and eventually everything turns to utter chaos.
Take the role of Brad Ashby, the owner of a small campground in North Carolina. He rescues a group of people from his campground, and together they trek down the Eastern Coast of the United States, where they hope to seek refuge on an Island off the coast of Florida.
The “Blanks” (Zombies, Reavers, etc.) don’t have a name yet. They will not be zombies, for sure, they’ll be a lot more like the Reavers of Firefly.
The RTS style will be very similar to Command and Conquer or the Campaign missions in Starcraft, since I don’t have a ton of resources it’s easier for me to write a little more storyline into it and have limited types of units, maps, etc.
Eventually, I see it being an incredibly fun multiplayer experience, which I won’t get into right now.
