Technical questions

I have a couple questions about polygon limitation and textures. I just put together a very simple scene in Unity with models from blender. there’s only about 500 or 600 polygons in it, and a couple textures. I put in a cube with a character controller and pressed the “maximize on play” button. When I played it it was pretty laggy, and I feared what would happen if it had a ten or twenty enemies and a main character in it. I was wondering what the poly count limitation is for the average computer is, and if a texture that’s to high quality would slow it down too much?
Thanks!

take a look here there is no reason for your game to lag that way. go through this little checklist and you will be very surprised how much faster your game will run.

I hope this helps you.

Would help to know what your specs are, and how big those textures your using are.

A semi-modern computer would get thousands of frames per second with a scene like that.

One texture is only 340 x 340, and the other was the “good dirt” from unity. Naison those were some good tips. I’m still not real familiar with the engine, i’m sure over time stuff like this will become more obvious, Thanks!

That said, I just found the problem :stuck_out_tongue: It was a large texture I was using for a few trees in the scene (I must have overlooked them) runs good now!

Woot!
