What’s happened with the Unity3D Pro terrain tree collection?
Four of the trees/bushes are defect:
-BananaPlant, Palm, Palm(group) and ScotsPineTypeB

Then: Where is this “Weed group” which is descriped in the Wiki/Unity Tutorial?

Hi Visualizer_Productions,
the weed group isn’t part of the official terrain asset. I took it from a crysis mod and worked on it so it fits unity needs. The model will be shipped with the demo package free for non commercial use. In case you want to use it in a commercial project you will have to get in contact with the original author to talk to him about licensing. He provides a rather hughe asset containing trees, weed, reed and flowers (.3ds / .dds). You can find an older version here:

sorry but I have no idea what happened to the trees. There are a lot of possible causes for “broken” trees: broken materials, wrong shaders, wrong name of folder… Do you get any error message in the console? And have you tried just to paint with your “broken” trees?
But not having a thumbnail for the tree doesn’t have to mean it is broken - working with prefabs (including a collider) i never get a thumbnail in the inspector: just the name.
