Like a puzzle.
Simply re-use parts they aren’t visible to the camera.
hey dude tks for replying what i want is to loop one terrain as character moves how would u suggest do u know any sites that i can go through?
I’ve spent the last few minutes trying to think of some ideas but I can’t come up with anything that won’t be awkward to make. Could you add the terrain as a prefab and instantiate (or PoolManager spawn) a copy of it once the player gets to a certain point of the map? If the player were standing at the North-West of the map then you would need to have three extra copies of the terrain created (West, North-West, and North). Once you get far enough from a map border you could remove the copy.
Not sure how you would go about manually stitching the end of the map up with the beginning; without spending hours manually going over the terrain borders and making sure all the verts line up! Sounds like a good plugin for the Asset Store ![]()
I find this very interesting, as I remember old games like “Microsoft Hellbender” also had a looped terrain, so you could fly around the whole planet seamlessly, although the “planet” was only modelled as a flat plane. I am not sure how this works. Did they put in some “trigger zones” before the end of the plane which save your position and velocity and then teleport you back to the beginning?
That method could work on a flat terrain, but might give you problems if you’re being chased by an enemy (you teleport and he disappears).
Pretty sure Terminal Velocity had a repeating terrain; it also had height variations.
