Hey scripting section persons!
I have a question, since you guys are all smart here. Does terrain size matter that much in an iOS game? Specifically, if i have a roughly 4000x2066 terrain, does it make much of an impact on how much processor power it takes?
The terrain editor is not compatible with mobile platforms for performance reasons.
so, you mean i cant use terrains made in unity for iOS?
Correct.
so, i have to make them in a external app like Maya or 3DS?
Yes. The only other option I am aware of is the Terrain4Mobile plugin. Look on these forums or the asset store for it.
ok, thank you for your help
I bought Terrain 4 Mobile today. If you want something simple and fast, it is worth it. Very easy to use and easy to understand. For a more professional game it is not ready yet. Too many glitches with rendering.
Also there is http://www.pixelstudio.nl/ that has custom terrain. It is open source as well. I am going to look into making my own after I look through how he paints directly on a surface.
ok, let me know how it goes, and if you make one you like, could i get a copy?
