Terrain Shadows cut off

I have an odd thing. I’m working with terrain that is 1500 250 1500 in scale.

My shadows cut off though, leaving my background blown out white.

I can extend my shadow by making the billboard start a higher number.

I can make this problem go away by changing my lighting type to Vertex instead of Pixel. However the reason I am using Pixel (and Force Pixel in Render Mode on my light) is that it creates a shadow on the terrain from my objects. Vertex does not create shadows on the terrain.

I am using a directional light. Range 2000, spot Angle 120. (made extreme to see if it helps).

Again I only notice a difference when I change the billboard start in the Terrain settings.

Has anyone had this experience and a solution?
