Terrain Texture not showing

Whenever I select a texture for the terrain nothing shows up, I try to paint onto the terrain and nothing shows up as well. If i zoom out really far then i can see the textures appear, but when im up close they disappear. any help?

I tried the options above and still was having the issue. I opened up another scene where I could paint the textures. I checked all the settings on the terrain and noiced that the difference was that on the scene where I could paint texture the material field for base terrain had none set as the material. On the scene where I could not paint any terrain, my base color terrain was the material set in that field. [11559-terrainnotshowing.jpg|11559]

This issue is still happening in 5.2...

Maybe if you gave an answer instead of complaining (twice on the same old post in about 6 months), you could stem this tide of misinformation on what is apparently a very high-ranking answer on Google. Because guess how people keep landing here? Google! Or you can come back in another six months to complain about it again.

Check your terrain settings. Play around with them and see if you get your problem fixed.

There's a correct, accepted answer from 2014(!) and there are still people coming to give wrong answers and confuse others.

That does not help at all. That's the same as saying "I don't know, you figure it out."

I had a similar problem, I wanted to paint a texture over other textures and nothing would show up. No “blue” brush, so nothing was being painted, same for adding trees. Turns out, it was because I had the Terrain Collider unchecked. Everything worked fine after I re-checked it.

Maybe that’s it? (I wasn’t experiencing seeing the textures when I zoomed way out and seeing them disappear when I’m up close, though, so maybe this is not the answer…)

That's fair, but I'm guessing 99% of people landing here got here because it's a top-5 search hit for them. Only reason it keeps being resurrected. I only waded in because the old answer doesn't give me what I was looking for (none of the new ones, either, tbh), and nothing else I was searching for came close. And look, we even got CodeMonkey adding a new answer today! lol

I am having the same issue. I tried reducing the Base Map Distance in Terrain settings and it worked. Not sure if it will work for you. Give it a try and see

Same problem here. You can fix it with reducing the Base Map Distance in Terrain settings, as mentioned before. But since that is the distance for the low resolution texture you’re left with a low resolution game suddenly. That’s NOT the solution to not seeing the texture… Tested with different options and such but all have the same result.

It’s the same issue as in [this thread][1].

I figure it’s a bug with no solution so far…

im having the exact same problem and i change the base map distance but i get low res textures, and i dont want that

Bug still there. I have the same problem. Same solution by reducing the Base Map Distance (basically to 0) and then sitting there with a low res texture. I didn’t even touch the Terrain since many weeks, and suddenly it just “breaks”? Weird

Double click on Terrain and go to the “Layer” option at right side above and select “UI” from the drop down
