When upgrading from a Legacy / AssetStore version of TextMeshPro to the new Package Manager versions of TextMeshPro, you will need to first migrate the project to use the newer versions by following the directions outlined in the following sticky thread .
Your best option will be to go back to backup of the project and follow the above migration procedure.
