I’ve just upgraded an existing project from 2017.1.0f3 to 2017.1.0p4. This resulted in the colors of textures in the editor… well, it looks like they got downgraded to 8 bits - see this comparison:
I did a full rebuild of lighting (emptied GI cache), which did not change the issue.
The problem is only in the editor, not in play mode. It affects both substances as well as “normal” textures, but seems to be restricted to low-light parts of the scene.
After further investigation, I found that the view goes back to normal in p4 by disabling the camera, or more specifically the “HDR” setting on the camera; that way, it again looks as it did in f3.
I think this is a bug and have filed Case 871016. Thanks for investigating.
After discussion with QA, we’ve found that this is seemingly a bug which has already been fixed in the 2017.2 beta branch. I have just tried with 2017.2.0b8 and the issue is no longer there, i.e. the coloring is back to the way it was in 2017.1.0f3.
